They come out of nowhere

We hear them as they go

Sometimes we see them

Sometimes we don’t

Whenever I hear them

There’s one thing I know

Even if I don’t see them

I’ll pray as they go

Lord, please be with the first responders

Police, fire, and EMT

Those that when others can’t help

Run quickly to help me

I pray for safety and protection

And that you clear their path and lead the way

So they get where they’re going safely

And that they have a nice day

Whenever I hear sirens

There’s one thing I know

Even if I don’t see them

I’ll pray as they go

In a controlled frenzy

Sometimes they have people in great need

Off to the hospital they go

Where people wait to do a great deed

Lord, please be at the hospital

With the doctors, nurses, and personnel we don’t see

Those that when others can’t help

Run quickly to help me

I pray for renewed strength and knowledge, and that everyone sees your light

So that when everyone gets to the hospital they’ll feel comfortable and at peace and have hope for a future that is bright

Morning. Afternoon. Day or night.

They go out of their way

Men and women who serve and protect us

So we can go about our day

So the next time I hear sirens

There’s one thing I know

Even if I don’t see them

I’ll pray as they go
