Hours go by

But the strength of my shell is greater than the strength of my beak

Four chickens have hatched now

A magnificent sight to see

I’m in here trying

Is get out of this shell

Four baby chickens

Growing up and learning to fly

I see them in the tree now

They sure have passed me by

But today is my day

It’s never too late to try

I’ll look down with great pride

Looking for a leader of the flock

Looking for a protector

Looking for a rock

I can be that chicken

I can be the protector

I can lead this flock

That’s what I am!

All I have to do

Is stand tall beside my peers

It won’t all be easy

But I will face all of my fears!

Because being a brave chicken

One who is persistent and strong

Looks like being a brave chicken

Is what I’ve been all along
